A controlled drug is generally a medication or chemical whose manufacture, possession or use is regulated by the government because of the potential for abuse or addiction. This policy sets out how we will handle requests for controlled drugs.
If you are a new patient to the practice, please make sure to let us know if you are prescribed any of the medication listed in the policy.
West Heath Surgery GPs will only prescribe controlled drugs if they are satisfied that the drugs or treatment serve the patient’s needs based on the best available evidence.

Our phone lines open at 8:00 am Monday to Friday, 9:00 am on Saturdays, and 8:00 am on Sundays.
On Sundays we have our Extended Access Hub access- please be aware that our doors may be closed during this time to ensure the safety of our team and patients.
